The High Court has ordered the Ghana Police Service to provide protection and assistance to the Osu Kinka We Dzasetse, and elders and councillors of the Osu Stool as they perform the final funeral rites of the late Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI.
The late Nii Dowuona VI was the Paramount Chief of Osu Traditional Area, President of Osu Traditional Council, and President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs.
He died on February 5, last year, after a short illness, and the funeral rites are set to be performed from February 23-27, 2022.
He was subsequently succeeded by Teteetey Nii Nortey Owuo IV as Osu Mantse, who will be presiding over the rites.
His Lordship William Boampong, who made the order on February 18, 2022, based on an application by Nii Saban Atsen VII of Osu Kinka We Dzasetse, also allowed the police to draw from the military and other security agencies if the task at hand proves over and above the manpower of the police.
Nii Nortey Adumuah IV and David Lantei Odartey, who according to court records, styles himself as Nii Odartey SRO III, were the defendants/ respondents in the matter.
Justice Boampong has also ordered service of the Order on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, and the Commander of the Osu District Police.
