We are not part of this conflict. We have the responsibility as NATO to prevent the escalation beyond Ukraine because that could be more dangerous and devastating and would cause more human suffering.

The US secretary says the alliance was committed to doing everything we can to give the Ukrainians the means to defend themselves against the aggressor. But we also have the responsibility to ensure that the war does not spill beyond Ukraine.
