The People Democratic Party (PDP) has submitted the names of its nominees to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replace the sacked Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, and his deputy, Kelechi Igwe.
On Tuesday, March 8, a court in Abuja presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that the Governor and his Deputy should vacate their seats because the PDP won the March 2019 election.
Following the court order, the PDP National Chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, announced at a press conference that the candidates for the positions of Governor and Deputy Governor are Iduwa Igariwey and Fred Udogwu.
The PDP National Chairman pleaded with INEC to do the right thing and immediately withdraw the Certificates of Return from Umahi and Igwe and issue them to Igariwey and Udogwu, respectively.
“We also want to recognize Justice Ekwo for his courage and forthrightness in pursuing the substance of the law rather than the technicalities,” he said.
Ayu also praised the court ruling and judgment for defecating on the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
