Some people fantasize about carrying around a foldable Windows-powered device in their pockets. Gustave Monce, a developer, is attempting to make that dream a reality. He has successfully installed Windows on Microsoft’s foldable and collaborated with Simone Franco to create a guide for dual-booting Android and Windows on the Surface Duo.
At this point, the Duo running Windows is more of a fun project than something that people should expect to use in any functional capacity. While the Surface Duo can run Windows, it does not support touch, pen, or several other important features.
It is only Following the instructions on GitHub will result in a Surface Duo that runs both Android and Windows. The device’s storage will be divided in half, with 64GB dedicated to each operating system. Android will function normally, but Windows will require a PC to boot.
If the nature of the process didn’t make it clear, this isn’t an intended use case for the Surface Duo.
The installation guide warns that Windows on the Surface Duo is still in early preview.

Monce has spent a significant amount of time working to get Windows to run on devices that were never designed to run the operating system. Most notably, he was able to run the full version of Windows on a Lumia 950.
It takes time to hack Windows onto devices, and it frequently relies on gap fillers to provide functionality. However, if you’re a technical user with a spare Surface Duo, you can use it to run Windows.
