Reno Omokri, a former presidential spokesman, has urged Nigerians to direct their complaints about the country’s economic situation to the President, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), whom they elected as their leader.
He stated that instead of directing their rage at fellow private citizen and singer David Adeleke, better known as Davido, for the country’s plight, they should direct it at the President.
However, the singer received backlash from Twitter fans on Wednesday after lamenting the cost of clearing his Lamborghini at the Nigerian port.
The Afro-pop singer had requested prayers for the country while lamenting the amount he had to pay for clearance.
“You have no idea how much I just paid to clear my Lamborghini. “Pray for Nigeria…Jesus,” he says.
However, when Davido lamented the cost of his Lamborghini clearance, fans slammed him for whining, despite the fact that there were people who didn’t even have food to eat.
However, in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle defending the singer, Omokri stated that Davido has been more useful to the country than the elected president and other officials.
“Rather surprised at the hard knocks Davido got over the Lamborghini he bought with HIS OWN MONEY,” he tweeted. If there were hard knocks, I’d think they’d be reserved for General Buhari, who spent YOUR MONEY on a 280 million Mercedes-Maybach but refused to perform.
“Shame on Nigerians who left a failed government that hides ordinary #COVID19 palliative noodles from the masses, only to disparage an under-30-year-old Davido, who has shown more love to needy Nigerians than the government.”

“Buhari is not in Nigeria because fuel scarcity is crippling the country—you don’t complain.” As ASUU is on strike, repentant Boko Haram held a graduation party yesterday- you don’t complain. You complain because Davido spent HIS OWN MONEY on a Lamborghini.
“Who killed Nigerians during the #EndSARS campaign?” Buhari. Who joined Nigerians in their protest? Davido. In fact, he was summoned to force headquarters to be questioned. Davido is a better asset to Nigeria than Buhari. Nonetheless, you left the Nigerian government to go after Davido.
“After donating $250 million to orphanages, Davido has earned the right to spend HIS MONEY on a Lamborghini. He’s also earned the right to bemoan the high cost of clearing it, especially since he’s done more for charity than the government collecting the clearance.”
