Watford, Burnley, Norwich, and now Everton, Leeds, and Brentford are all vying for a place in the Premier League, but which teams will survive?
After a late 1-0 win over Newcastle, Frank Lampard’s Everton team has opened up a three-point lead over the bottom three. They also have two games in hand on Watford, who are currently in 18th place.
Brentford have pulled away from trouble after defeating Burnley 2-0 in west London on Saturday, with back-to-back victories over teams in the bottom three putting them eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Burnley, meanwhile, has now lost three league games in a row, with only one point separating them from Watford and Everton. However, Sean Dyche’s team has a better goal difference than both teams.
Leeds lifted their relegation fears with a dramatic 2-1 win over Norwich, moving them four points clear of the drop zone and ending a run of six league defeats in a row.
The result adds to Norwich’s woes, who are now six points adrift of safety with nine games remaining after suffering back-to-back defeats to relegation rivals in the space of four days.
Watford moved up to 18th place, level on points with Everton, after a 2-1 win at Southampton on Sunday, their first in five league games. Everton’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle on Thursday put them three points ahead of the Hornets.
