Bukayo Saka has previously been linked with a move to Anfield.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool faced Arsenal in a match between two of the Premier League’s most in-form teams. The Reds had secured an impressive 2-0 win after 90 minutes of football, but it had not been easy.
The Gunners were well-organized and difficult to break down throughout the competition. On the attacking side of the game, much of their threat was channeled through Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, who both played on the flanks.
Andy Robertson, speaking after the game, emphasized the latter’s level. “It was more of a defensive performance from me tonight,” he admitted. “Bukayo Saka is a lot of work. It was a very difficult game. It was wonderful to start with a blank slate.”
The Arsenal forward has previously been linked with a move to Anfield. His skill set is naturally linked to Liverpool, as he fits the mold of a wide forward who would thrive in Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3 system.
Saka, who is still only 20 years old, has a lot of potentials to fulfill, and he’s also homegrown, which is more valuable than ever in the current transfer market given the implications of Brexit on the footballing landscape.
The Arsenal youngster is quick and unpredictable, and he has 14 goals and 13 assists since breaking into the Premier League, demonstrating his unique two-way nature of scoring and creating equal amounts.
Saka, crucially, is a left-footer. Klopp’s only left-footed forward is Mohamed Salah.
At the moment, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and Roberto Firmino all prefer their right foot.
