The shooting occurred a few metres away from the Wa SSNIT Flat, killing 64-year-old Stephen Mani, a retired lecturer at Dr Hilla Limann Technical University, after a scuffle over a parcel of family land.
During the scuffle, Mr Mani was hit by a stray bullet. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Wa Municipal Hospital.
Four other people were hit by stray bullets and are being treated at the same hospital. They are said to be in critical condition.
These five, however, are said to have no connection to the alleged family land dispute.
