Former Big Brother Naija housemate Adeoluwa Okusaga, also known as Saga, has revealed why some of the show’s former housemates become depressed after leaving the house.
The reality TV star, who was a housemate in the Shine Ya Eye 2021 edition, stated that the drastic change in living standards of former housemates contributed to some of them becoming depressed.
In an interview with PiggyVest, he stated that he could no longer do the things he used to do before entering the BBNaija house.
Saga, on the other hand, stated that his finances had multiplied in comparison to what he earned before becoming famous.
“I’ve been making ten times what I was making before I got into the BBN house,” he said. But the unfortunate fact is that I’ve been spending 15 times what I was before I got in.
“Let me begin with the obvious. Clothes. You will pay a stylist N100,000 to style you and then return the clothes to them. That’s what I’m saying. It’s not easy for me to say, ‘Come for my event, come for my event.’ I need to go shopping.
“The following step is accommodation.” I previously lived in a three-bedroom house. The rent was N600,000 per month, and I shared the apartment with my friends. That amounted to N200,000. I am currently paying N5.1m.
That is what causes some housemates to become depressed. It’s a life-altering experience. It drastically alters your reality.”
Saga also expressed regret over the amount he spends on furnishing his living space, claiming that it has an impact on the cost of his feeding.
He revealed that returning clothes worn for events is a common practice because buying them would be more expensive, especially not being able to wear clothes used to take Instagram photos.
Saga, who was dubbed the 2021 BBNaija season 6 lover boy due to his involvement with fellow housemate Nini, revealed that he had to arrest someone after paying for an apartment that he didn’t pay close attention to.
“As a result, I’m paying that, and I’ve had to furnish the house.” It’s pricey, but at my age, I can’t afford to live in my father’s house. I can’t fly economy anymore, even though I’m not paying for it. Food is also more expensive. I’m unable to consume my Iya Basira and roadside bole.
“But what about this thing called clothing!” You return everything because if you have to buy it, you will spend more money.
“The real deal-breaker is that once I wear something and photograph it for Instagram, I won’t be able to wear it again anytime soon.”
Airbnb and hotels are two other things that cost a lot of money. You move into one of those when you leave the house. This is something that every housemate is guilty of. You can’t find the time to look for a house because you’re constantly moving; today you’re in Warri, tomorrow you’re in Abuja.
“Sometimes you find a good place, but before you can pay for it, someone else has taken it.” It got to the point where I would pay for a place before taking a good look at it. Before I could get my money back, I had to arrest the man. That happened on Christmas Day!
“When I finally found a place and gathered my clothes, I felt like I should open a boutique!” Saga bemoaned.
