Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Samuel Chukwueze of Villareal have arrived in the Super Eagles camp ahead of Nigeria’s 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff doubleheader against Ghana.
Zaidu Sanusi, the left-back for Porto, has also joined the rest of the squad, bringing the total number of players in camp to 21.
On Tuesday, the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed Osimhen’s arrival via the Super Eagles’ official Twitter handle, which showed Osimhen at the gym.
“Victor Osimhen is here,” he said. There are 21 players in camp… Balogun, Ekong, Ajayi, Aina, Onyeka, Ighalo, Akpeyi, Musa, Etebo, Iheanacho, Abdullahi, Uzoho, Simon, Dennis, Aribo, Bassey, Bonke, Omeruo, Sanusi, Chukwueze, and Osimhen.”
Osimhen was ruled out of Cameroon’s 2021 African Cup of Nations after suffering a skull fracture during Napoli’s match against Juventus and later contracting COVID-19.
On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, the squad will hold its first training session in preparation for the first leg match against Ghana.
As preparations for the game continue, it is also expected that all invited players will show up today.
