Felix Ofosu Kwakye, a former Deputy Communication Minister in the John Mahama administration, claims that the Akufo-Addo administration lacks credible and feasible solutions to alleviate Ghanaians’ suffering as a result of the country’s economic challenges.
He believes that voting out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and replacing it with the opposition National Democratic Congress is the best bet for the country (NDC).
On Monday, he told Eyewitness News that an NDC government would handle things differently.
“The suffering will continue until they are booted out for the NDC, which will be more responsive to the needs of the people, prudent in the use of public resources, and will avoid the ostentation that has plagued government under this administration,” Mr. Ofosu Kwakye said.
The Ghanaian economy has been in turmoil, putting the government in a bind and necessitating the development of immediate solutions to alleviate Ghanaians’ suffering.
Cabinet recently convened for a three-day meeting to discuss the situation.
However, according to Kwakye Ofosu, none of the government’s proposed solutions will work because the government has failed to address the fundamental issues or listen to advice from others.
“I don’t believe anyone has lost sight of what needs to be done. This is a resolute government that does not value the opinions of those outside of it. “They are hopelessly incompetent, yet they refuse to accept advice that will get us out of this mess,” he said.
This crisis has been going on for months, and they have done nothing to address it. It’s gotten worse, so when you hear that they’ve gone into meetings to figure out how to get us out, you can’t help but laugh because it’s the same group of people who got us into this mess in the first place,” he added.
The government has attempted to blame the economy’s problems on global events, primarily the Covid-19 pandemic and, more recently, the Russia-Ukraine War, which is affecting global crude prices.
