Bimbo Ademoye, an actress, has stated that when she first started out in the industry, she would take any role that came her way. She now picks and chooses which roles she will play.
“Make sure you know the craft,” she said as a guest on Meet and Greet, a show produced by Inkblot Productions (before joining the industry). Don’t come in just because you’re attractive, have long hair, or are in good shape. ‘This is me,’ I said as I walked in with my ‘bow legs’ (knock knees). My father has many connections, but for various reasons, he did not ‘know people’ in the film industry.
I came in by myself, fully aware that this is what I wanted to do. I used to take any movie role I could get back then (that came my way). Now that I’m older, I’m more picky. Someone was offended once because I said, ‘No.’ I told her it was a lovely story, but I couldn’t see myself playing it, and she was offended.”
Ademoye recalled one of her most bizarre experiences on the set of a film, saying, “On one occasion, we were filming upstairs in a building and I was going downstairs.” However, someone had placed a cup of hot water on the rails upstairs, and for some reason, it poured on me when I got downstairs. Fortunately, I did not sustain any burns.
I screamed and dashed into the restroom. ‘We are waiting for you,’ said the production manager.
“Every curse word that could come out of my mouth came out, and it took everything I had not to punch him, even though I knew he could beat me up.” The director then came downstairs and apologized, saying, ‘Bimbo, he’s just doing his job.’ That has to be the most bizarre experience I’ve ever had on a movie set.”
