Liverpool have been linked with Uruguayan international Ronald Araujo for some time, but Barcelona have yet to agree on a new contract with him.
Sport revealed last month that the Reds have already made contact with the South American central defender, who is out of contract in 2023.
Liverpool has made an offer of £62.4 million to sign the star, according to reports.
Two weeks ago, the renowned Spanish media outlet reported that Barcelona had offered him a contract worth only 3 million euros per season, or £48,000 per week.
Araujo turned down the offer because he wants the same deal that the Nou Camp outfit offered to Ansu Fati and Pedri.
Nacional, a Catalan newspaper, has recently joined the fray.
The 8-cap international is an extremely important member of Xavi Hernandez’s team; he has been excellent at the back and has also scored four goals in La Liga, including a spectacular header in the El Clasico.
Liverpool already has a rock-solid defense at Anfield. Klopp has a number of quality central defenders at his disposal, including Matip, Gomez, summer signing Konate, and record signing Van Dijk.
As a result, in my opinion, there is no pressing need to sign another central defender unless we decide to sell one of the aforementioned names during the summer transfer window.
