As part of efforts to combat price inflation and stabilize the economy, the House of Representatives has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria to strengthen the use of coins in the country.
Following a motion moved by Umar Lawal, a lawmaker representing Toro Federal Constituency in Bauchi State, the matter was debated in plenary on Tuesday.
In Nigeria, the use of coins has been discontinued for decades.
