Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has stated that despite defeating Nigeria’s Super Eagles, the Black Stars are not up to the World Cup standard.
On the Super Morning Show on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, he admitted that the Stars played well on Tuesday. He did, however, mention that there are some issues with the wings that need to be addressed.
“I think they did well overall, and to some extent, they gave us hope that the Black Stars have a future [but] based on the game yesterday, we [the Black Stars] are not up to World Cup standards.” We have a problem, if you watched yesterday’s game carefully.

Concerning the players’ performances, he claimed that Jordan’s performance as a winger fell short of his expectations because he is a striker. “His performance was poor,” he emphasized.
He also commented on Afena-performance, Gyan’s saying, “Afena is good – he’s got speed, he’s slippery, but he needs a bit of clinical work.”
So, if we want to use him as a striker, we have a lot of work to do,” he added.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe believes that the majority of the team’s difficulties stem from the fact that they are not based locally.
“The coach doesn’t live here, and that bothers me.” Almost the entire technical bench is not in this country, which is a major source of concern for me.
“Right now, after this game, the technical team will disperse and go back to their respective countries where they came from, and we’ll be back to square one.” They’re called back if there’s another game, which has been the main issue because they don’t gel,” he explained.
“The coach doesn’t live here, and that bothers me.” Almost the entire technical bench is not in this country, which is a major source of concern for me.
So we should find a way to keep some of these people on a permanent basis. If we find Otto Addo to be the best hand, let’s bring him here, hire him, and pay him so we can concentrate on the locals,” he added.
He also emphasized the importance of utilizing local players effectively.
“We have our own league here, and it’s critical that we use some of our local players.” “There’s no point in running a local league if we’re not going to have them on our national team,” he said.
“If we handle them correctly, we can get some of them who will undoubtedly outperform some of what we saw yesterday,” he added.
