Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, announced his candidacy for governor of Kaduna State in 2023 on Wednesday in Abuja.
Sani bemoaned the fact that the state has never been so divided along ethno-religious lines as it is now.
If he is elected governor of Kaduna State next year, he has also promised to remove insecurity and make the state uninhabitable for terrorists.
Sani spoke at Wadata Plaza, the Peoples Democratic Party’s national secretariat in Abuja, after obtaining the N21 million expression of interest and nomination forms to run for the PDP’s Kaduna State governorship ticket.
The former congressman expressed regret over the continuous killings in Kaduna, claiming that such incidents were not reported in neighboring states such as Nigeria.
He said, “We cannot continue to fold our arms while the government is helpless. We must unite the people against terror. Kaduna has never been more divided along religious lines that it is today.
“Only justice, equity and fairness will unite the country. If the governor’s formula was working, he could have united the people. Our people sell their houses, farmlands to pay bandits. Where is the government?”
