The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced free nomination forms for female candidates running in the 2023 elections.
Ms. Betty Edu, the party’s National Women Leader, made the announcement at a press conference held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday.
She stated that the party’s leadership made the choice to support all female candidates and mainstream them into politics.
President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha Buhari, according to Edu, have done enough to mainstream women.
“And to bolster that point, we are Africa’s largest party, and we want to make a clear message that we support inclusiveness and mainstreaming for women,” she continued.
Women will be able to run for office with a free nomination form, according to the party.
“The ball has been thrown into our court.” Women have previously stated that they cannot afford nomination forms. Because we will be running on the ruling party’s ticket, we have been given the best chance of winning an election. Not simply a ruling party, but one that has delivered, one that has helped Nigerians, one that is willing to mainstream women.”
As a result, Edu urged women to rise up and run for office, as well as participate in a succession of activities leading up to the 2023 elections.
She emphasized that women must be actively participating in the political process and that they must go door-to-door to sensitize women to go out and participate in the ongoing Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) registration process (INEC).
