Kyle Walker, a Manchester City defender, has spoken about the crucial Premier League match against Liverpool on Sunday.
Kyle Walker, a Manchester City defender, likened matchups against Liverpool to a “game of chess” and described what will differentiate the two teams this weekend.
Liverpool will travel to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in the hopes of seizing control of the title chase. They are only one point behind Pep Guardiola’s table-topping side at the moment.
With the championship arguably depending on the outcome of the match, Walker has revealed his thoughts on what he believes will make all the difference.
The England right-back told The Telegraph that it’s all about concentration. “It’ll most likely be the mental side or a stroke of brilliance that separates the two squads.
For 90 minutes plus injury time, 100% concentration is required. You are unable to turn off for even a fraction of a second.
“With the players Liverpool has, one second of concentration slip from a defense will result in a goal nine times out of ten.” It’s a chess game. Who will be the first to make a mistake? “It’s kind of game over if you make one false move.”
The Reds are still in the hunt for a historic quadruple. They’ve already won the League Cup, are in the Champions League quarterfinals, and will meet City in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday, April 16.
