Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has stated that if elected President of Nigeria, he will address the country’s leadership crisis, which has stifled economic growth.
He claims to have a clear sense of purpose and the ability to mobilize and coordinate the county’s many human skills, knowledge, and resources in order to lead it to greatness.
Wike stated this on Tuesday at the Peoples Democratic Party’s secretariat in Owerri, where he met with Imo State delegates as part of his ongoing consultations ahead of the party’s presidential primary next month.
Kelvin Ebiri, the Governor of Rivers State’s Special Assistant on Media, stated this in a statement on Tuesday headed “My Presidency Will Address Leadership Deficit In Nigeria -Wike.”
“Every time, our party people will say, but for Wike, the party would have died,” Wike was quoted as saying. The same person has now come forward.
“That Wike who has stood for this party, who has made this party not die, who has made this party live has stepped out and said I want to head this party now.”
“Nigeria is brimming with talent. Nigeria is brimming with intelligent individuals. The current issue in this country is leadership.
It needs someone with the ability to rally and coordinate those resources, and it takes leadership. If you grant me the party’s mandate, I am confident that I will win the election in 2023.”
Given the chronic insecurity situation in sections of the country and the poor performance of the economy, Wike believes it is difficult to believe that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), is actually in charge of the country’s affairs.
He claimed that the fight against corruption is insincere since those accused of wrongdoing are either made chairman of the APC or sheltered from the course of law.
The Governor stated that his presidency will be in control of the armed forces, that he will provide them with the necessary support, that he will increase their information gathering capabilities, and that he will demand results from them.
The governor stated that the economy cannot prosper without security, and that he is fearless in confronting the threat across the country.
He also indicated that as part of his presidency, economists and specialists will be involved and given the freedom to design the modalities and strategies needed to determine the course for the nation’s economic growth.
Wike stated that he is committed to the development of his people and enjoys building infrastructure, as demonstrated in Rivers State.
When elected President of Nigeria, he promised to repeat the achievements he had in Rivers State.
