Francis-Xavier Sosu, a human rights lawyer, has urged the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, CHRAJ, and other stakeholders to create a campaign to lobby for the protection of minority groups in Ghana, such as Fulanis.
According to him, this will result in a shift in attitude as well as a reduction in stigma and discrimination against people who belong to such groups.
“There will be an issue if people do not see fairness and justice taking place.” The Gender Ministry, Attorney General, NCCE, and CHRAJ should collaborate to create a campaign to address this issue, according to the Madina MP.
His statement comes after seven people were arrested in Wapuli in the Northern Region’s Saboba District for killing four livestock belonging to Fulanis in the area.
When a police patrol squad happened upon the men carrying the livestock on a tricycle, they were arrested.
The suspects are being held in police custody in Yendi, Northern Region, and are expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
Despite the fact that the incident is unrelated to the recent attack in Zacholi, the seven took advantage of the occasion to attack animals, according to the police.
Last Wednesday, nine Fulanis in the Yendi Municipality were also killed, allegedly by unknown gunmen.
Some properties were destroyed as a result of the attack.
According to sources, the attack occurred after charges that on Tuesday, April 11, 2022, some armed robbers attacked and killed a Konkomba man.
