The monarch had been ill, and a plan had been put in place to fly him out of the country before he died late Friday night. His tickets, as well as those of a number of his wives, were purchased prior to his untimely death.
On October 15, 1938, Alaafin Adeyemi was born Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi into the Alowolodu Royal House of the famous Oyo town. On November 18, 1970, he was crowned, succeeding Oba Gbadegesin Ladigbolu I. Iku Baba Yeye was his popular name.Many spouses and children survive him.
