Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has told presidential aspirant Rotimi Amaechi that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s aspiration remains the “rallying point” of Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu made the remarks while meeting with the Minister of Transportation in Marina, Lagos, yesterday.
Both Amaechi and Tinubu, the former governor of Lagos, are candidates for the presidency in the All Progressives Congress.
Sanwo-Olu, who described himself as a “direct beneficiary” of Tinubu’s leadership, stated that the state would back Tinubu in his bid for the presidency in 2023. He did point out, though, that Amaechi was also qualified.
“I have the utmost admiration and respect for our leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu,” he says. I’ve benefited directly from his leadership. He said, “I was a member of his cabinet.”
“As for me, I continue to support his leadership and what he stands for.”
“I want to tell you that you’re really qualified, and I wish you luck on your path.” Clearly, Asiwaju remains a rallying point for all of us in Lagos State, but the country is our country, and we must continue to perceive it as one that is indivisible and around which we all unite.
“I’m quite aware of your lineage and what you’ve done,” the governor declared.
Amaechi, who also reacted, claimed it was difficult for him to travel to Lagos because their national leader, Bola Tinubu, is from the city.
