The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders expressed concern over the brutal murder of a young girl who was discovered dead and her corpse mutilated at the Merry-Home hotel in Aba, Abia State, calling the conduct as evil, barbaric, and diabolical, and condemning it in its entirety.
“Aba is not known for such barbaric activities,” Goodluck Ibem, the President-General of the apex socio-political youth organisation in the South-East geopolitical zone, stated. “Anyone or anyone who wish to bring such practices into a business and hardworking town like Aba would not succeed.” Such a scheme is doomed from the start.”
Security authorities should not leave any stone unturned in their investigation and prosecution of suspects implicated in the vile deed, according to the group, because Abia is God’s own state and must remain such.
“We demand that the state government and security authorities conduct a routine check of all hotels in Aba and throughout Abia State to determine the types of businesses they do and the activities that take place there,” the group said.
“We’ve heard that certain boys have converted some hotel premises into a yahoo rendezvous where they gather to develop their nasty intentions of defrauding others of their hard-earned money,” the organization claims. The government must intervene promptly to put a stop to this.
“It’s sad that some teenagers and youths who should be at school studying are spotted in some hotel premises learning the deeds and unlawful business of duping others through ‘Yahoo.'”
We believe it was an instance of ritual killing based on how the woman was killed and mutilated by her assailants. The large number of minors located on the hotel grounds suggests that it is a hangout for the so-called Yahoo lads.
We demand that all hotels in Aba be profiled and checked on a regular basis, and that any suspect conduct be reported to security services for prompt action.
“It is past time to put in place regulations and programs that will deter our children and teenagers from engaging in the illegal business of the so-called Yahoo or Yahoo plus.” If our youths continue on this path, our society’s future will be jeopardized. “We have to make hay while the sun shines,” the teenagers added.
