According to a new analysis, the top ten African countries with the most dollar billionaires in 2022 have been identified. Despite having Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria is ranked third behind Egypt and South Africa on the latest ranking. According to the research, the top five countries control more than half of the continent’s private wealth.
According to Henley & Partners and New World Wealth’s Africa wealth report for 2022, there are over 136,000 estimated millionaires (HNWIs) living in Africa with a net worth of US$1 million or more. The 75-page analysis also indicated that Africa is home to over 6,700 multi-millionaires, each having a net worth of $10 million or more.
There are also 305 centi-millionaires in Africa, each with a net worth of $100 million or more, and 21 people with a net worth of more than $1 billion, according to the report.
With a net worth of nearly $20 billion, Aliko Dangote is Africa’s richest man. Despite this, South Africa has the highest concentration of wealth on the continent, followed by Egypt and Nigeria.
Morocco and Kenya rounded out the top five, accounting for half of Africa’s overall wealth, according to the report.
There are 39,3000 high-net-worth individuals in South Africa, including 2,080 multimillionaires, 94 cent millionaires, and five billionaires.
There are 16,900 high-net-worth individuals in Egypt, with 880 multimillionaires, 57 cent millionaires, and 7 billionaires among them. With 10,000 high-net-worth persons, 510 multimillionaires, 28 cent millionaires, and four billionaires, Nigeria is ranked third. Kenya came in fourth place because it has 8,500 high-net-worth individuals, 340 multimillionaires, 15 cent millionaires, and zero billionaires. There are 5000 high-net-worth individuals in Morocco, including 220 multimillionaires, 22 centimillionaires, and three billionaires.
