The Met Gala, dubbed “fashion’s grandest night” by many, is returning for another year.
The event, which takes place every first Monday in May and has a theme of “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” was held as planned this year.
Due to COVID-19 constraints, the event was rescheduled for September 2021, since it was unable to take place in 2020.
According to Vogue, the event’s dress code, ‘Gilded Glamour and White Tie,’ saw celebrities dipping into the late-nineteenth-century New York fashion archives.
The Gilded Age in New York City, which lasted from 1870 to 1890, was marked by “exceptional prosperity, cultural upheaval, and industrialisation.”
The night’s red carpet was hosted by Vogue editor-at-large Hamish Bowles, actor and singer Vanessa Hudgens, and TV personality La La Anthony, as previously stated.
Nicki Minaj stunned in an all-black attire that included a sleeveless tulle dress, leather leggings, and a Burberry baseball cap, styled by Ricardo Tisci. To complete the appearance, she wore dazzling black stones on her face, shoulders, and arms.
Hilary Clinton, the former Secretary of State of the United States, attended the event in a simple red long-sleeved ball gown.
Alicia Keys wore a black gown with a flowing cape embroidered with bejewelled representations of New York’s famed skyscrapers to the red carpet.
Elon Musk, the South African entrepreneur who presently holds the title of World’s richest man, wore a black tailcoat on the red carpet. Maye, his mother, was dressed in a crimson velvet Dior gown and accompanied him.
Kylie Jenner steals the show in an Off-White bridal gown and a net-veiled baseball hat, and the Kardashians aren’t left out of the parade. Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian made their first appearances at the event this year.
