Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, warned on Friday that Poland was spewing aggressive language and that Warsaw could be a “danger.”
As Ukraine seeks to resist Russian forces pouring into the east, Poland has spearheaded calls for the EU to tighten sanctions and the Western NATO alliance to arm Ukraine.
Russia has been waging a systematic disinformation campaign against Poland for several days, according to Stanislaw Zaryn, a spokesman for the Polish security services, including accusations that Poland is a threat to Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
The goal of Russian measures is to sow discord between Poland and Ukraine, as well as to smear Poland and portray it as a dangerous country causing strife in Eastern Europe,” he noted in an emailed response.
“Poland is pleased to be on Putin’s list of unfriendly countries,” Polish Environment and Climate Minister Anna Moskwa stated on Monday.
