Dr. Bukola Saraki, a former Senate President, has wooed Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party delegates for their votes ahead of the party’s presidential primary poll on May 28 and 29.
On Monday evening, Saraki and his staff met with PDP leaders in Ikeja.
If elected, he promised that Lagos State would be given special attention as a potential investment destination in the country.
Nigeria, according to the former governor of Kwara, required a president who would stand up and take some really strong decisions to reposition the country.
“Please, let me appeal to you, I am your own,” Saraki pleaded. Let us join forces to ensure that we win at both the federal and state levels.
“Among all the candidates, no one has the same history or ties to Lagos State as I do.” Do not leave your own to go outside and look for someone.” We can improve this country by working together. My interest will be the same as yours. I’d want to make an appeal; please do not share your delegate votes; this is my state. I implore you.”
On the calls for “special status” for Lagos, Saraki, who labeled it as a “special priority,” stated that if he is elected, the state would receive special attention.
He advised the delegates not to be fooled by any form of pleasure, emphasizing the importance of leadership in making Nigeria a better place.
He believes that Nigeria need a president with the ability, expertise, and experience to unite the country’s citizens, and that he is the finest bridge between the North and the South.
He said that he had the ability to bring people together, as he did when he led the PDP Reconciliation Committee, which brought peace to some of the party’s state chapters that were beset by conflicts.
