The Ondo State Police Command has charged a food vendor, Seun Sola, with stabbing her ex-boyfriend following a fight over N500 before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo town.
During a fight between the two at the town’s Iyalaje Market, Sola allegedly stabbed the victim in the stomach with a knife.
The victim, identified as Lomi Akinbinu, was alleged to be the defendant’s previous boyfriend.
According to the prosecution, the defendant broke the law on May 4, 2022, about 9:30 p.m., at Iyalaje Market in Ondo, in violation of Section 338(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against her.
Bernard Olagbayi, the police prosecutor, informed the court that he would be bringing three witnesses to testify in the case and requested a date to read the case file.
P. O Afolayan, the defendant’s lawyer, requested for her bail in the most generous terms possible.
Mrs Charity Adeyanju, the magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N200,000 with one guarantee in the same amount, stipulating that the surety must be a resident of the jurisdiction and credible.
She also postponed the case’s hearing until May 30, 2022.
