Mohammed Muntari will spearhead Qatar’s offense at the next FIFA World Cup, which runs from November 21 to December 18. The lanky forward, though, is not the first Ghanaian-born footballer who has switched allegiances. Ghana Danny Welbeck, Mario Balotelli, and Jerome Boateng are among the top Ghana players who have represented other countries. Mohammed Muntari recently disclosed that he has pledged his international allegiance to Qatar over Ghana for “football reasons.” Despite being born to Ghanaian parents, the 28-year-old chose to represent the Arab country. Muntari, who will represent Qatar in the 2022 World Cup, has appeared in 43 games and scored 12 goals.
On an international level, the lanky attacker isn’t the only Maroon who has left Ghana for another country.
