Mohamed Salah, according to Carlo Ancelotti, is the best player in his position.
Salah won the FWA Footballer of the Year award for 2022 earlier this month.
Salah’s primary rival for the Ballon d’Or is Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
On May 28, his Real Madrid team will face Liverpool in the Champions League final.
After another 30-goal season for Liverpool, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti agreed with Mohamed Salah’s declaration that he was better than “any player in his position.”
Salah’s claims had been contested, but Ancelotti was convinced enough to admit that he was the best player in his position, but not the best player in the world.
The Egyptian striker is one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or this year, with Ancelotti’s own Karim Benzema, who will meet Salah’s Liverpool in the Champions League final on May 28.
‘Salah has declared that in his position, he is the best in the world, and I believe he is correct,’ Ancelotti remarked.
I concur with him. Yes, he is the finest in the world in his position.’
Salah’s remarks come after he was voted FWA Footballer of the Year 2022, and he is now leading the race for the Premier League Golden Boot as Liverpool tries to complete an unprecedented quadruple.
‘If you compare myself to any player in my position, not only in my team but in the globe, you will find that I am the best,’ Salah stated to beIN Sports via Goal.
‘I always put my job first and do my best, and my numbers back up my words.
‘I enjoy setting new challenges for myself, working in new ways, and making a difference, and that is my responsibility.’
The Champions League final this season is a rematch of last year’s final, in which Salah was forced to be substituted in the first half after suffering a shoulder injury following a Sergio Ramos challenge.
Salah has been open in his desire for retribution after Liverpool lost the game 3-1 thanks to a magnificent overhead shot from Gareth Bale and goalkeeping failures from Loris Karius.
‘I remember the last final versus Real Madrid like it was yesterday,’ he remarked. We are well-prepared, and we aim to avenge ourselves in the next final.’
