Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation, stated on Thursday that among the APC presidential hopefuls, he had been tested, trusted, and most capable to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in 2023.
According to a statement made by his media office, the former Rivers State Governor mentioned this while addressing the Benue State APC delegates for the party’s presidential aspirant.
Amaechi told the delegates that he will use his leadership expertise to help Nigerians.
He mentioned how he dealt with insecurity in Rivers State and urged delegates to vote for him, saying that he has solutions to the country’s many problems.
There were only two hundred doctors in the state when I became Governor of Rivers, but there were six hundred by the time I left. Doctors did not have cars, so by the time I left, I had purchased 600 cars for 600 doctors.
“By the time I departed as Governor, I had hired 13,200 teachers, and we didn’t just hire Rivers residents; we hired Nigerians as well.” We did it in order to provide a viable alternative to crime. People were able to find useful job as soon as the economy was repaired.
“Roads were built, flyovers were erected, scholarships were given to poor people’s children to study abroad, and we gave each local government region 20%, as well as non-indigenes.” The next step was to arm and equip the police and army so that they could fight the criminals. I’m telling you this story because I promised you that I’d been tried and true. So please vote for me because I am the most qualified,” Amaechi explained.
Hon. Austin Agada, the state’s APC chairman, responded by declaring the absolute support of the state’s delegates for Amaechi in the upcoming presidential primary.
Hon. Austin Agada, the state’s APC chairman, responded by declaring the absolute support of the state’s delegates for Amaechi in the upcoming presidential primary.
Agada, speaking on behalf of the delegation, said the decision was made essential because of the former transport minister’s outstanding leadership qualities.
“A courageous individual, a warrior, someone who has what it takes to add a fresh dimension to leadership is something that most Benue people like. So you’re a draw for the Benue people, which validates the idea that you battled for Nigerian justice while you were going through those difficulties.
“We want you to know that Benue State is for you, and that while you were Director General of President Buhari’s Campaign Team, you did everything you could to demonstrate Nigerians a new form of leadership.” You have demonstrated to Nigerians what you are made of.
“As Speaker, Governor, and Minister, you have done your best for Nigerians, and I am confident that as President-elect, you will do even more.”
I want you to know that Benue is completely behind you, especially since you mentioned us, and I also want you to know that this is your second home. Feel free because you can only imagine how many individuals are working for you in Benue at all hours of the day and night. “Be confident that we are praying for you,” the Chairman stated.
