Iretiola Doyle, a veteran Nollywood actress, has praised Adesua Etomi-Wellington, a colleague who defended her (Doyle’s) daughter, Jemiyo, from bullies.
Ireti mentioned in a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday that her daughter, who just turned 18, was once bullied at school.
When Adesua became involved, the bullying “died down dramatically,” she said.
Ireti mentioned that her daughter had recently transferred to a new school and had received a position on the student council not long after her return.
“Within months of coming, she competed for and won a spot on the Student Council,” the actress stated. That, it appears, is not permitted. You can’t just show there and start’shining’ without ‘permission.’
“Oh, the bullying was vicious!” And she’d ask me not to intervene most of the time, determined to forge her own path. Mrs. Wellington, however, was informed of the events and stated, “Auntie, I’m going to go pick Jem up from school one day.” OK, I said. She requested me to sit in the car on that particular day. It took a little bit longer than normal.
She wasn’t merely “picked” from school by @adesuaetomi. She took her time walking around the school grounds with her arm around Jemiyo, waving at the pupils who were speechless.
“‘This is my Beloved, thou shall not touch,’ the message was plain. To say the abuse stopped after that day is an understatement — genuine star power.”
