At a colorful ceremony in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko was officially declared Ghana Premier League champions. The Porcupine Warriors won their final home game 3-0 against the Elmina Sharks at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The newly crowned GPL champions will compete in the CAF Champions League Kumasi next season. In their final home game of the season, Asante Kotoko were awarded with the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title. After a 1-1 draw against Ashantigold last week, the Porcupine Warriors were declared champions in front of their home crowd in the game against Elmina Sharks. The players were photographed getting their medals as captain Abdul Ganiyu lifted the trophy in photographs shared on Twitter.
Next season, the country’s record Premier League champions will compete in the CAF Champions League.

Asante Kotoko, the current Ghana Premier League leaders, won a historic match against West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) on Saturday afternoon at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena. In a closely contested match, Cameroon immigrant Franck Mbella Etouga scored the lone goal to give the Porcupine Warriors all three points. The Kumasi-based giants were coming off two consecutive defeats as they faced the relegation-threatened WAFA on Matchday 27 of the league.
