According to a report by GraphicOnline, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has fired 27 instructors for allegedly entering the organization using phony appointment letters.
Teachers who work in some elementary schools in the North East Region are alleged to have obtained their employment by forging posting letters and appointments using Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Director-General of GES, as the signatory.
The GES North East Regional Public Relations Officer, Tongo Yidana, confirmed this by telling the Graphic that the impacted individuals did not adhere to the GES’s hiring policies in order to join the Service.
“It is thought that some people conned the victims into paying for appointment letters by forging the Director-signature.
Their information cannot be found in the database, but it was posted to the schools where they are teaching, we found out when we checked,” he added.
He stated that the police had been notified about the incident for more inquiry.
