According to reports, Bayern Munich is willing to talk to Barcelona about acquiring Robert Lewandowski this summer.
Journalist Josep Soldado Gomez claims that Bayern Munich is prepared to start talks with Barcelona about acquiring star striker Robert Lewandowski during the summer transfer window. The two clubs have not yet finalized a contract despite the Polish international’s apparent wish to move.
Since the beginning of the summer, Lewandowski has made it obvious that he intends to leave Bayern Munich and join Barcelona. With a year left on the player’s contract, the Bundesliga champions are not in a rush to sell, but the two European behemoths are unable to come to terms.
Bayern Munich’s hitman is supposedly the subject of an official bid from Barcelona worth €50 million, but according to other sources, the Bavarian powerhouses are holding out for at least €60 million. The most recent information is that Bayern Munich is prepared to begin talks with Barcelona in order to identify a point of commonality.
Lewandowski has asked the board of the Bundesliga champion team to make it easier for him to go to Barcelona, according to Josep Soldado Gomez. The Catalan giants must now submit a “strong offer” to Bayern Munich in order to acquire the 33-year-old this summer.
During his time with Bayern Munich, the 33-year-old Poland international developed into one of the top strikers in the world.
Lewandowski has played for the club for eight seasons and has scored 344 goals in 384 games played in all competitions, in addition to contributing 72 assists.
With the German club, Lewandowski has won eight Bundesliga championships and twice received the Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award in 2020 and 2021. Lewandowski has accumulated an abundance of individual and team honors throughout his time in Bavaria, but he currently appears to be leaving the Allian Arena.
Meanwhile, Barcelona has officially announced the additions of Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, Raphinha from Leeds United, and Franck Kessie from AC Milan (on a free transfer). The Catalan giants and Manchester United are currently in talks on the potential sale of midfielder Frenkie de Jong. It will be intriguing to see whether they can work out a deal with Bayern Munich for their top target in their chase of Lewandowski.
