Two players, including Emmanuel Dennis, were essentially expected to leave after Watford was demoted from the Premier League.
Despite several links to Premier League clubs, the Nigerian international is failed to find a new home.
The 24-year-old has recently been linked with a move to newly promoted Nottingham Forest. It was previously reported last week that Nottingham Forest was considering signing Dennis this summer as they continue to bolster their roster in preparation for their upcoming top-flight comeback.
According to the Daily Mail, Watford is seeking roughly £25 million for their player. The same site, however, suddenly asserted that the Reds’ move for the Nigerian was off in an amended report published yesterday morning.
Instead, their source asserts that Forest are pursuing Maxwel Cornet of Burnley despite growing interest from Fulham and Everton.
The most recent update is that the Watford forward started yesterday’s exhibition match against Southampton.
Since Sheffield United was the Hornets’ last friendly before their Championship debut, one would assume Dennis would be rested if a transfer were on the horizon.
It will be intriguing to watch whether the Hornets forward starts that match at Vicarage Road against the Blades, as well as whether any other clubs are connected to him this summer.
Watford will have done incredibly well if it can hang onto Dennis through the end of the transfer window.
