PSG star Due to a lawsuit filed against him over suspected irregularities in his transfer to Barcelona, Neymar is now facing up to two years in prison. DIS, a Brazilian firm that held 40% of Neymar’s “federative rights” while he was playing for Santos, asserted that the forward and Barcelona made deals behind its back. According to reports, the company is seeking an absurd £126 million in damages. The trial has been set for mid-October and is apparently going to include charges against former Barcelona presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu.
Neymar, the star forward for Paris Saint-Germain, is allegedly in court for “irregularities in his move to Barcelona” nine years ago. Back in 2013, the Brazilian forward exchanged Santos for Barcelona to complete a spectacular transfer to Camp Nou.
Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, two former presidents of Barcelona, are reportedly also going to be charged with “corruption and fraud” in connection with the currently contentious transfer.
It is understood that the trial is related to a complaint that was made seven years ago by the Brazilian corporation DIS. The organization, which specializes in the football market, claims that Neymar, his family, and Barcelona misled them during the sale. It is believed that while the forward was at Santos, DIS held 40% of his “federative rights.”
