The Real Madrid pair played a key role in the UEFA Champions League last season, aiding the Whites in capturing their 14th European championship. Before their Super Cup match against Frankfurt, UEFA gave special awards to Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
In the UEFA Super Cup final between the Los Blancos and the German team in Helsinki, both teams are vying for the season’s first piece of bragging rights. Vinicius won the award for best young player in the same tournament, while Benzema was voted the best player for the UEFA Champions League season of 2021–2022.
Vinicius and Benzema both had major contributions to make as Madrid won in Europe. The Brazilian winger contributed with 4 goals and 7 assists, including the game-winning goal in the final versus Liverpool, while the Frenchman scored 15 goals and added two assists. Vinicius joined the team in 2018 from Flamengo in Brazil. Alongside Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior shone this season as the Spanish powerhouses captured the La Liga and the Champions League.
