The Ashanti Region in Ghana has the most violent incidences, according to the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Foundation for Security Development in Africa (FOSDA).
“The Ashanti area topped the list with a total of 24 incidences, representing 28% of all incidents, out of the 86 total instances registered between June 1 and July 31, 2022.
According to a research report by FOSDA for June and July 2022, “Next to follow keenly is the Greater Accra Region with 21 incidences, or 24% of the total cases recorded.”
With no violent incidents reported throughout the study period, the research stated that Bono Region was the most calm part of Ghana.
According to the 86 cases that were documented over the course of the two-month monitoring period, 167 injuries and 41 fatalities occurred in the regions under observation, with 10% of the fatalities being women. With 49 reported cases, or 57% of the total cases reported, physical violence, including assault, topped the list of violent incidents. Gun-related violence was closely behind, with 15 cases, or 17% of the total cases reported. The aforementioned information in this study is based on FOSDA’s monitoring of 10 significant media channels in Ghana, including internet and newspaper sources.
