After Alejandro Balde once again shone in Barcelona’s victory over Elche, manager Xavi said that he has been impressed by the left-back.
Balde made a strong case for a regular role on the club while back in the starting lineup and notched up a few assists.
Xavi was undoubtedly impressed and gave his impressions on the kid after the game.
Balde is undoubtedly having a good start to the season and, if he can keep it up, he should get plenty of playing time.
The fact that the youth faces stiff competition for his spot can only benefit Barcelona this season.
“I am happy for him,” he said. “He has great quality and character. It never ceases to amaze me that an 18-year-old can play at that level.
“Physically he is amazing and he is going to give us a lot. We have three left-backs at an extraordinary level, with Jordi and Marcos (Alonso) as well.”
