Memphis Depay, a forward for Barcelona, has complained about Xavi Hernandez’s lack of playing time for him.
Depay, who started Barcelona’s previous two La Liga games, claimed that it was insufficient because he needs more playing time.
After moving to Barcelona on a free transfer from Lyon, the former Manchester United player concluded the previous season as the club’s leading scorer.
But this season, it appears that the Netherlands international has slipped in Barcelona’s pecking order behind Xavi.
Depay was a bench player in the first four games; Xavi preferred players like Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele, and Raphinha to spearhead Barca’s assault line.
Depay told ESPN, “Of course, this time I look forward to this week with the national team extra, I’m sure you can understand why.
“I played less than usual, which is unusual for me. But in this situation, you already know you’ll participate, therefore I’m more inspired and grateful.
“I started two games in La Liga over the past two weeks,” he continued. It is insufficient.
“After 60 minutes, I’m pulled off, but I want more. There is more room in the final 25 minutes of the game, and I can always take advantage of it.
