Bruno Fernandes, a playmaker for Manchester United, has acknowledged that he was upset when his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur fell through.
After leaving Sporting Lisbon, Fernandes eventually moved to United for £67 million in January 2020.
The Portuguese midfielder made an immediate impact at Old Trafford, tallying 37 goals and 26 assists in 93 games.
However, things may have turned out differently for Fernandes had Sporting Lisbon not rejected Spurs’ attempts to sign Fernandes when Mauricio Pochettino was in control.
Naturally, I desired to play in the Premier League. The person who wanted me there was their manager (Pochettino).
“Sporting Lisbon did everything they could to keep me, despite the good offer.
I had a conversation with the president (Frederico Varandas). He did, however, call me on an incorrect day.
I was furious and it was the day after they decided to reject the offer from Tottenham. For my benefit, manager Marcel Keizer made the right decision at the appropriate moment, Fernandes told The Athletic.
