Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has come under fire from Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who claims the Spaniard is only at ease with youthful players.
After being demoted to the reserve squad and deprived of his club captaincy, Aubamayang departed Arsenal for Barcelona in February.
The former Borussia Dortmund star joined Chelsea after only a few months at Barcelona when he assisted the Catalans in reaching the Champions League.
The former captain of the Gunners, Mesut Ozil, was also a source of contention for Arteta, who completely dropped him from the Arsenal team.
Aubameyang claimed that the former Man City assistant coach’s managerial style at Arsenal can’t handle “big players.”
“I remember they [Barcelona] first called my father,” Aubameyang said, according to Metro.
“We knew the coach, Xavi, then he called me and said there is an opportunity because you have those problems with Arsenal, but if you come you will help us a lot, so I said, ‘okay’.
“But to manage big characters or big players, he [Arteta] can’t deal with it.
“He [Arteta] needs some young players, they don’t say anything, they listen.”
