Victor Osimhen, a forward for Napoli, scored on his injury comeback as the Partenopei defeated Ajax 4-2 to go to the knockout round of the UEFA Champions League.
Osimhen has been out since suffering an injury on September 9 during Napoli’s matchday one match against Liverpool.
At the 50-minute mark, the Nigerian international replaced Giacomo Raspadori on the field.
Osimhen scored Napoli’s fourth goal of the match in the 89th minute as the score stood at 3-2 and Ajax looked to mount a comeback.
For Luciano Spalletti’s team, it was the striker’s first-ever Champions League goal.
In six appearances for Napoli this season across all competitions, he has now scored three goals.
Calvin Bassey, another of his countrymen, played for Ajax in the match.
Bassey received a caution in the 66th minute.
