Thomas Tuchel, a former manager of Chelsea, reportedly declined an offer from Sevilla this month.
According to BILD, the LaLiga club made a move for Tuchel before selecting Jorge Sampaoli.
Before firing Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla reached out to Tuchel, but the German declined because he is searching for a “greater challenge.”
After a disappointing start to the season, Chelsea fired Tuchel last month.
Graham Potter, an ex-Brighton manager, took over for the German, according to Blues co-owner Todd Boehly.
Sampaoli was later signed by Sevilla after Lopetegui left a fortnight earlier.
