Kalidou Koulibaly, a defender for Chelsea, has disclosed that Gianfranco Zola and Didier Drogba, two club icons, forewarned him that he would struggle in the Premier League.
Both under the leadership of current manager Graham Potter and former manager Thomas Tuchel, Koulibaly has been a key component of Chelsea’s team this season.
The international from Senegal moved from Napoli to Chelsea during the summer transfer period.
Koulibaly told Corriere della Sera, “The joy of football is also this: I arrive with a coach that wants me at any costs, and then he leaves.
“[Graham] Potter and Thomas Tuchel both use the three-man defense. I was accustomed to using a four-man backline while playing for Napoli. You never stop learning, I added another arrow to my bow.
“I anticipated a challenging time, and that is exactly what has happened. Even [Gianfranco] Zola and [Didier] Drogba knew it would happen and informed me.
Due to an injury, Koulibaly has been out from Chelsea’s previous three games against Brighton, RB Salzburg, and Manchester United.
