In the world of football, there aren’t many coaches of the highest caliber. It is challenging to locate such coaches without a club because clubs typically line up for them years in advance.
Thomas Tuchel left Chelsea earlier this season, but he hasn’t yet secured a new job.
Given his track record of creating fantastic projects from nothing and even winning the UEFA Champions League, it is obvious that many clubs will look to hire him in the upcoming transfer windows.
Tuchel is interested in the potential of leading teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus in the near future and views them as an option as early as 2023, according to reports from BILD (h/t MadridXtra).
Although the Catalans are on his list, it seems unlikely that Tuchel will take over the Barcelona project anytime soon. Strong supporters of Xavi Hernandez’s endeavors include not only Joan Laporta but also the players and spectators.
The team has unquestionably improved under his guidance, despite the manager’s limited success in the UCL thus far.
In the distant future, the German manager might indeed take on Barcelona’s project because of his ideals, which would support the success of the Catalan reconstruction. But to anticipate that a manager of his caliber would be available up until that point would be naive.
Under Tuchel, Chelsea lost just 11 of their 63 Premier League games while winning 35 of them. They did not, however, really contend for the crown as some fans might have liked.
Graham Potter has been battling to halt the bleeding as the London-based team has been on an exponential downward spiral since his dismissal. If Chelsea will regret their choice, only time will tell.
