According to SportsMail, Fernando Santos has been fired as the manager of Portugal.
The former European champions were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup after falling to Morocco 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
The 68-year-old is renowned for having guided Portugal to victory in the 2016 European Championships and for winning the inaugural Nations League in 2018–19.
For the past eight years, Santos has been in control.
However, in preparation for their Euro 2024 campaign, the Portuguese Football Federation (PFF) is currently looking for a new head coach.
Prior to his team’s matchups against Switzerland and Morocco in the round of 16, Santos decided to bench captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
After witnessing the 37-year-irate old’s response to being replaced against South Korea during the group stage, he had grown impatient with him.
