Hector Bellerin, a summer acquisition for Barcelona, stated that his deal is for less than €500,000 per year in an interview with Diari ARA.
On the day of the summer transfer deadline, Bellerin agreed to a Bosman deal with Barcelona when his contract with Arsenal expired.
Due to the Blaugrana’s Financial Fair Play concerns, the Spanish right-back only agreed to a one-year contract when returning to his childhood club. The defender, who was also believed to be paid extremely little, has now verified that his annual pay is currently less than €500,000.
“Yes. Today, playing football at the top level bothers me. I am fortunate to have been doing it for a long time and to be in a stable financial position that enables me to do what I want, Bellerin added.
We don’t actually need as much as we think, and I lead a relatively typical life. My priorities are not determined by a financial concern.
Ineffective at Arsenal for some time, ellerin spent the previous season on loan at Real Betis before moving on to Barcelona. When comparing the environments of Barcelona’s locker rooms to those at his previous two clubs, he said:
“The two are combined. Arsenal has players from all over the world, making it incredibly multicultural. At Betis, though, a lot of people spoke Spanish, which made it simpler to form a group because there weren’t as many disparities.
“For this reason, I assert that it combines the two. But at Barça, I discovered a finer dressing room than I had anticipated.
Bellerin, as previously said, only signed a one-year contract with Barcelona, which means he might be leaving after the current season is over. The right-back responded when asked if he intended to extend his contract with the Catalans or had offers from other clubs:
“I want to avoid thinking about it. I want to take full advantage of the fact that I have only one year left on my contract. I’ll analyze it after the end of the season, but for now, I’m really content and concentrated on the remaining six months.
Bellerin might have left Barcelona as early as January, according to rumors. However, following a lackluster start to his time at Camp Nou, Xavi Hernandez and company decided to give him the remainder of the season to establish himself.
However, it does seem doubtful that Bellerin would receive an extension given that Barça is anticipated to recruit a new right-back in the summer.
