Paul Merson, an Arsenal legend, has pushed Manchester United to spend big money to get Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.
Kane, in the opinion of Merson, would increase Manchester United’s chances of winning the UCL.
Kane has recently been regarded as one of the top attackers in the world.
In 412 appearances, the England captain scored 265 goals for Tottenham.
The 29-year-old is only two goals behind Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (21) in the battle for the Golden Boot after scoring 15 goals in 18 Premier League games for Tottenham so far this season.
“In an age where clubs spend money for fun and world-class centre-forwards are a rarity, I would find it crazy if Manchester United didn’t break the bank for Harry Kane,” Merson told the Daily Star.
“If United ever want to catch Manchester City, they’ve got to go and get Kane.
“I don’t know what I’m missing here. Even if he costs £150 million and it is a four or five-year contract, you’re buying over 100 goals. Who else is going to give you that?”
“Everyone talks about Erling Haaland, but for me, Kane could deliver similar numbers in that Manchester City team and even add more assists. Call me silly, but Kane would even give United a chance of winning the Champions League, in my opinion.”
